Our attitude about money largely shapes our relationship with God and our neighbors. As Christians, we understand that everything belongs to God, the Creator. He is the owner. He has commissioned as His managers, and has made it clear that he desires faithful managers to be generous. Yet true generosity involves more than money.

We often assume that money exists for our own benefit, and act as if our possessions are for keeping. Yet God has made us rich in order that we might be generous. Many people say they know Jesus, but those who really know him show it by their lives, especially by their generosity. When we give to the Lord, we put our money where our mouth is.

In our affluent society, the excesses of wealth are out in full display. As a result, we don't usually think of ourselves as rich, because there is always someone who has more. But the truth is, if we have more than we need, then we are rich. And as those who are rich, we have certain temptations that are specific to us.
