Stephen Ministry at TTUMC
Stephen Ministry is being revived at Temple Terrace United Methodist Church after 20 years!
What is Stephen Ministry?
Our congregation's Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
A Stephen Minister is...
-
A child of God who walks beside a person who is hurting
-
A congregation member with gifts for caregiving who was carefully selected to serve in this role
-
A lay person who has received 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care
-
A caring, Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports and encourages
-
Someone who will "be there" for his or her care receiver, meeting faithfully for about an hour each week, for as long as there's a need

In 2010, the ministry came to life at Temple Terrace United Methodist Church. Here's a look back at an amazing, productive year.
Stephen Ministry featured on PBS
The PBS “Religion and Ethics” news show recently aired an eight-minute feature on Stephen Ministry.
2011 Stephen Ministers Commissioned on Palm Sunday
Join us in congratulating our new Stephen Ministers, Jim Coolidge, Jackie Diamond, Mike Dzyndra, Ann Harvey, Susan Johnson and Patina Ripkey. The Commissioning service, held on Palm Sunday in our Traditional service, was led by our Stephen Leaders. Pastor St. Clair, along with our visiting Cuban Pastors, Leonardo and Mercedes, offered prayers for each of our new Stephen Ministers after the commissioning vows. It was quite evident that the congregation was supportive as Stephen Ministers and members of the congregation came forward and affirmed them by laying hands on our new Stephen Ministers during the prayers.
Let us continue to keep our new Stephen Ministers in prayer. We pray that the Holy Spirit will go with them, and that they rely on Jesus as their source of strength as they carry out their ministry.
