My Brain Hurts

Have you tried to process so much information at one point that you ever say, "My brain hurts"? Well sometimes when we are learning with Christ about what if means to be more like him, our chances of using this phrase increase exponentially. This was the case this past weekend when I was learning about how to minister to others through process. What is even more difficult and happens if we are really committed to learning about the nature of Christ is when our heart hurts. This isn’t the same hurt we experience from human relationships but it is a pain that can be equated to being sore after running long distances without stretching. When we as Christians develop our lives in Christ, he stretches us and pushes us to our limit. Due to this stretching and pushing, we receive increase, but it is also uncomfortable at times. Just like a runner continues to exercise even when she/he is slightly sore, we must continue to push ourselves in our spiritual walk.

Confirmation 2011: Credo

All sixth-graders and up are encouraged to register for Confirmation 2011. We will discover what it means to grow in faith and have a genuine relationship with Christ. We will learn about the history of the United Methodist Church and what we as Methodists believe. Most importantly, we begin a journey of true transformation. Please see Missy to register for the 2011 Confirmation class by Feb. 6, so that we plan for upcoming confirmation events, retreats and curricula. We need Adult Mentors for each Confirmand, if you are a member of Temple Terrace UMC and would like to sponsor a Youth as they go through Confirmation, then please see Missy for more information.

Confirmation schedule

• Saturday, March 12, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Confirmation kickoff (confirmands, leaders, mentors and parents). No Cost

• Friday, March 18 – 19, 5 p.m. on Friday – 10 p.m. on Saturday, Confirmation Retreat in Leesburg (confirmands and leaders) $70 due by Feb. 20 to Missy. It includes three meals, plus snacks, lodging, programming and transportation

• Saturday, April 2, 8 a.m. – 9 p.m., Confirmation field trip to the Holy Land Experience in Orlando (confirmands and leaders) $25 due by March 13 to Missy. It includes lunch and dinner, transportation and Holy Land Experience admission

• Sunday, May 1, arrive at church at 8:45 a.m. in the youth room, Confirmation ceremony. Invite your friends and family. Confirmation reception will follow services.

Summer camp registration has begun

We are attending summer camp during Week 7, which is from July 25-31. Please register your 3rd - 12th grader today at www.warrenwilliscamp.org. If you would like to know more about being an adult volunteer for the week, then please e-mail Missy Watson. Also, don’t forget to pick up a Conference Scholarship application to help defray the overall cost of each camper’s cost, this must be completed in order to also be eligible for any additional scholarship from Temple Terrace UMC. All scholarship applications are due to Missy Watson by March 1.
